PRESENTS | FUTURE MYTHOLOGIES

Myth (from the Greek mythos μῦθος): a story in which events are described. The subject of a myth is often visualized by gods, animals, strange personalities or heroes with inhuman powers. These types of characters play a central role in various mythical stories, which are still extremely timeless. For that reason, myths are often used as navigators for questions about the past and its future.

As designers we are used to tell stories through the work we make. We actually create our own mythologies when we visualize our concepts. What will be the outcome if we reflect on ancient myths by translating their norms and values into future stories connected to our profession? Should we question our role as designers towards our society and move along with new technologies and social events?

For the Dutch Design Week 2018 we challenged our participants to visualize a language based on their opinion and vision on our theme. Supported and visualized by any medium that serves as a character in their future mythology.
